I’m Alimay Bridbirch.

[writer + collector + psych witch]

I’m Alimay. I write, I read tarot, I’m learning astrology, I attempt arts and crafts, and I am driven by a magpie-like urge to collect, curate, and arrange beautiful things.

I’ve been (officially) witching since 2022. I’m an eclectic soft polytheist, dedicated to Persephone and inspired by the work of Carl Jung, working primarily with the power of autobiographical memory, narrative, and archetypes on the road to a more loving, effective use of personal power. I hope that sharing my tools and my process might inspire others on similar journeys.

My magic is a deeply personal and self-reflective exercise in meaning-making. I variously describe myself as a psych witch, a word witch, an art witch, a divination witch, and a kitchen/house witch. I’m also an autistic witch (autism level 1); part of the function of my practice is to support living well in a world that’s not built for my neurotype, and finding opportunities to sublimate that tension into greater understanding and positive change.

I require > 4 pots of tea per day for optimal functioning. Cats, snacks, velvet and incense also help.

About This Blog

If you poke around here, you’ll find very quickly that this isn’t a “how to” blog per se. No neat tables of correspondences, no “10 beginner witch tips” articles, no library of pre-written rituals for you to try.

There’s a simple reason for that: there’s already so much of that stuff out there. Books, classes, workshops, social media accounts, other websites… if you want that kind of instruction and inspiration, it already exists in abundance, and you can get it from practitioners much more knowledgeable and experienced than I am.

But in a spiritual tent as large diverse as “witchcraft” or “neopaganism,” particularly as eclectic solitary practice has become so common, what I often want is to understand what other practitioners actually do with their chosen tools and knowledge frameworks, what it means to them, and why. I’m interested in how people’s practices and approaches evolve over time as they gain new insights through experience, as well.

Honestly, that’s a more vulnerable kind of content to make than aesthetic graphics about the uses of this herb or another, this crystal or another… and if I want more of that kind of content, it seems only fair that I should make some of it myself.

So what you’ll find here is honest snapshots of my practice and my life. Bits of my process, my tools and rationale, my evolving style of magic, and the results. Basically, this blog consists of adapted excerpts from my personal book of shadows.

If a peek behind the curtain at another witch’s practice appeals to you, and if seeing someone else muddle through new concepts helps you normalize and appreciate your own learning journey (warts and all), that’s what this is for.
